Softbank <a href="/softbank/2006/horse-face/">previously</a> featured a full-bodied horse.

Yee-haw! A yellow smiley wearing a wide-brimmed, brown-leather cowboy hat. Its smile varies across platforms.&nbsp;May convey a sense of exuberance, whimsy, confidence, adventure, or other sentiments.

Several vendors, including Apple, feature&nbsp;the same expression as their <a href="/grinning-face-with-big-eyes/">😃 Grinning Face With Big Eyes</a>.

Emoji <a href="/emoji-modifier-sequence/">modifiers</a> change the skin tone of the jockey on some platforms, which can be difficult to discern at small sizes.

Horse Racing

A grey donkey or mule, shown in full profile, sometimes with its hind legs kicking into the air.

Can be used literally to represent the pack animal. Can also be used metaphorically to call someone a jackass&nbsp;or to say that someone is stubborn as a mule.

Because the donkey is a symbol of the Democratic Party of the United States, it may be used in political contexts. Additionally, the term mule&nbsp;can refer to someone who carries illegal drugs across borders, so this emoji may be used to talk about smugglers and the act of smuggling.

Horse

The face of a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicorn">unicorn</a>, a mythical creature in the form of a white <a href="/horse/">horse</a> with a single, long horn on its forehead. Generally depicted as a white horse head facing left with a pink or purple mane and a yellow or rainbow-colored horn.

In addition to the mythical unicorn, may be used to convey whimsy, fantasy, uniqueness, specialness, peace, and love. Often used for various content related to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_symbols#Unicorns">LGBTQ community</a>, thanks in part to its <a href="/rainbow-flag/">rainbow</a> colors on many platforms. Also often used in association with &ldquo;unicorn&rdquo; startups. Sometimes used as a rainbow or holographic accent color.

Vendors implement the emoji with the same or similar design as <a href="/horse-face/">🐴 Horse Face</a>, but with colorful hair and a horn.

Available as an Apple&nbsp;<a href="/animoji/">Animoji</a>.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s unicorn is facing right. Google&rsquo;s unicorn <a href="/google/android-7.0/unicorn/">previously</a> had a brown mane, <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/unicorn/">Samsung&rsquo;s</a> a pink mane. Twitter&rsquo;s unicorn was <a href="/twitter/twemoji-2.0/unicorn/">previously</a> purple-colored with a blue mane.

Unicorn Face

A zebra, a horse-like mammal with black-and-white stripes. Variously depicted in full profile on all fours facing left or as a&nbsp;zebra head facing left with a short mane.

Apple, Microsoft, WhatsApp, Samsung, and Facebook&rsquo;s designs feature the full animal; Google and Twitter&#39;s&nbsp;designs feature a head with a short mane and black muzzle. Facebook&rsquo;s design <a href="/facebook/2.1/zebra/">previously</a> featured only a zebra head, as did <a href="/samsung/one-ui-1.0/zebra/">Samsung&#39;s</a>.

Zebra Face

A friendly, cartoon-styled face of a cow looking straight ahead. Variously depicted as a white, brown, or multicolored cow face with a neutral expression, short horns, and a pink or brown muzzle.

Often used with a more affectionate tone than the full-bodied <a href="/cow/">🐄 Cow</a>.

Facebook&rsquo;s design <a href="/facebook/2.0/cow-face/">once featured</a> a more lifelike, brown cow face.

Cow Face

A cow, a bovine farmed for its meat or milk. Depicted in full profile on all fours facing left with a black-and-white patched coat (as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holstein_Friesian_cattle">Holstein Friesian</a>) and, on many platforms, a pink udder and horns.

May be used to represent the animal, its food products, or black-and-white coloring. See also <a href="/cow-face/">🐮 Cow Face</a>.

Microsoft&#39;s&nbsp;cow was <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/cow/">previously</a> brown, as was <a href="/facebook/2.0/cow/">Facebook&#39;s</a>, which had&nbsp;a bell around its neck.

The SoftBank emoji designs&nbsp;heavily influenced&nbsp;<a href="/apple/iphone-os-2.2/">Apple&#39;s original emoji font</a>&nbsp;which was&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/apples-emoji-evolution-1997-2018/">designed to be compatible with this set</a>&nbsp;when launching in Japan, due&nbsp;to iPhone being a SoftBank-exclusive phone when first released.

SoftBank&nbsp;<a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&amp;tl=en&amp;js=y&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.softbank.jp%2Fmobile%2Finfo%2Fpersonal%2Fsoftware%2F20170120-02%2F&amp;edit-text=">announced</a> it would switch to using Google emoji designs from 2016, for&nbsp;phones supporting <a href="/google/android-7.0/">Android 7.0</a> or above. The last update to SoftBank&#39;s emoji set was released in 2014 and discontinued in 2016. This release added 277 new characters

A minor update to this set removed regional indicators in 2016, but otherwise delivered no new changes.

An update to the SoftBank emoji set&nbsp;<a href="https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&amp;tl=en&amp;js=y&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.softbank.jp%2Fcorp%2Fgroup%2Fsbm%2Fnews%2Fpress%2F2008%2F20080603_03%2F&amp;edit-text=&amp;act=url">released at the end of&nbsp;June 2008</a>, sometimes referred to as&nbsp;SoftBank 3G.

This version added more detail to each character and was the first SoftBank release to show the majority of smileys as round characters rather than square edge-to-edge designs.

Updated in 2006, this version of Softbank&#39;s emoji set is largely the same as the prior release, but with additional detail or shading on a number of emoji designs. Used throughout 2006&mdash;2007.

An increased resolution and a number of design changes. This was the first release to switch the <a href="/person-tipping-hand/">💁&nbsp;Person Tipping Hand</a> (nee Information Desk Person) from a <a href="/softbank/2001/person-tipping-hand/">Man</a> to a <a href="/softbank/2004/person-tipping-hand/">Woman</a>, and many emojis were redesigned with additional detail.

Changes in this release include an increased pixel count for each emoji, resulting in more detail and smoother curves and gradients.

This set was commonly in use on SoftBank devices during 2001 and 2002, and records show it first existing as early as July 2000.
