Unamused Face

A yellow face with raised eyebrows, enlarged eyes, slight frown, and long nose,&nbsp;indicating&nbsp;it&rsquo;s telling a lie in the manner of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinocchio">Pinocchio</a>. Like that character, Facebook&#39;s design features a wooden nose.&nbsp;

May represent lying, a liar, and other concepts of deceit and dishonesty to varying degrees of intensity. Sometimes used to convey disbelief (e.g., You must be kidding) or feeling abashed (e.g., as if&nbsp;caught in the act of lying).

Lying Face

A yellow face with soft, closed eyes, raised eyebrows, and a slight smile. Facebook&rsquo;s design features a slightly open mouth, as if&nbsp;sighing.

Conveys various pleasant feelings, including&nbsp;contentment, calm, peace, and&nbsp;relief. May also convey feelings of happiness or good-natured humor more generally.

<a href="/google/android-7.0/relieved-face/">Google</a> and <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/relieved-face/">Microsoft</a> previously included sweat beads. Not to be confused with <a href="/pensive-face/">😔&nbsp;Pensive Face</a>, which has similarly shaped eyes but in a sadder expression.

Relieved Face

A pensive, remorseful face. Saddened by life. Quietly considering where things all went wrong.&nbsp;Depicted as a yellow face with sad, closed eyes, furrowed eyebrows, and a slight, flat mouth.

May convey a variety of sad emotions, including feeling disappointed, hurt, or lonely. Less intense than other sad emojis like <a href="/loudly-crying-face/">😭&nbsp;Loudly Crying Face</a> and more introspective.

Microsoft&#39;s design&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/windows-10/pensive-face/">previously featured</a> a more neutral, bored expression. Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.0/pensive-face/">previously looked</a> more guilty or worried.&nbsp;Not to be confused with <a href="/relieved-face/">😌&nbsp;Relieved Face</a>, which has similarly shaped eyes but in a happier expression.

Pensive Face

A yellow face with X&rsquo;s&nbsp;for eyes and a round, open mouth. Often depicted with raised or furrowed eyebrows. Facebook&rsquo;s design features a purple forehead. Previously displayed with spiral eyes on <a href="/google/android-8.0/dizzy-face/">some</a> <a href="/microsoft/windows-10-may-2019-update/dizzy-face/">platforms</a>.

May convey a heightened or hyperbolic sense of such feelings as&nbsp;shock, surprise, disbelief, awe, and&nbsp;amazement, as if staggered to the point of disorientation (i.e., <a href="/dizzy/">dizzy</a>). May also represent <a href="/face-with-thermometer/">sickness</a>, <a href="/nauseated-face/">nausea</a>,&nbsp;<a href="/woozy-face/">intoxication</a>, and <a href="/skull/">death</a>, e.g., slang I&rsquo;m dead!

Not to be confused with <a href="/astonished-face/">😲&nbsp;Astonished Face</a>, which previously featured X-shaped eyes <a href="/apple/ios-8.3/astonished-face/">on</a> <a href="/twitter/twemoji-1.0/astonished-face/">several</a> <a href="/facebook/1.0/astonished-face/">platforms</a>, nor&nbsp;<a href="/face-with-spiral-eyes/">😵&zwj;💫 Face with Spiral Eyes</a>&nbsp;which consistently displays spiral eyes on all platforms.

Dizzy Face

A yellow face with simple, open eyes and a slight frown. Often conveys a mild degree of concern, disappointment, or sadness, but usually&nbsp;less intensely&nbsp;than <a href="/frowning-face/">☹️&nbsp;Frowning Face</a>.

<a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/slightly-frowning-face/">Samsung</a> and <a href="/facebook/2.0/slightly-frowning-face/">Facebook</a> previously included eyebrows.

Slightly Frowning Face

A classic sad face. A yellow face with&nbsp;simple, open eyes and wide, steep frown. May convey such feelings as moderate concern or disappointment and affectionate sadness, as when missing a loved one. Its sentiment is usually more intense than <a href="/slightly-frowning-face/">🙁&nbsp;Slightly Frowning Face</a>, which has a smaller frown.

This smiley predates Unicode emoji support. In its Unicode name of White Frowning Face, white&nbsp;does not refer to skin tone or ethnicity, although&nbsp;Samsung&rsquo;s <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.0/frowning-face/">early designs</a>&nbsp;colored the face white.&nbsp;See the glossary for the&nbsp;term&nbsp;<a href="/glossary/#white" title="📖 Glossary">white</a>&nbsp;in Unicode character names.

White Frowning Face

A yellow face with small, open eyes, raised eyebrows, and a small,&nbsp;open mouth, as if it has been hushed by concern or correction. Meaning widely varies, but its expression is commonly taken as surprise, embarrassment, or mild&nbsp;excitement.

Similar to <a href="/astonished-face/">😲&nbsp;Astonished Face</a>, which features larger eyes and mouth.&nbsp;Google <a href="/google/android-5.0/hushed-face/">previously interpreted</a> hushed as &quot;silenced,&quot;&nbsp;depicting&nbsp;the emoji with a <a href="/zipper-mouth-face/">zipper mouth</a> until <a href="/google/android-6.0.1/">Android 6.0.1</a>. An early&nbsp;Microsoft&nbsp;design <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/hushed-face/">featured</a> a face with closed eyes and a flat, closed mouth.

Hushed Face

A yellow face with open eyes, raised eyebrows, and an open mouth, as if gasping in shock or surprise. Often depicted showing its upper teeth.&nbsp;May convey a wide range of emotions, including awe, amazement, admiration, disbelief, excitement, or concern.

Similar to <a href="/hushed-face/">😯&nbsp;Hushed Face</a>, which features smaller eyes and mouth. Several earlier designs, <a href="/apple/ios-6.0/astonished-face/">including Apple&rsquo;s</a>, displayed X-shaped eyes, making the emoji resemble <a href="/dizzy-face/">😵&nbsp;Dizzy Face</a>. Google&rsquo;s design <a href="/google/android-7.0/astonished-face/">previously depicted</a> a wobbly expression, as if <a href="/woozy-face/">inebriated</a>.

Huawei&#39;s design for this emoji includes a&nbsp;<a href="/collision">💥 Collision</a>-like symbol behind its head, emphasising its astonishment.

Astonished Face

A yellow face with furrowed eyebrows, a small frown, and large, &ldquo;puppy dog&rdquo; eyes, as if begging, pleading, or yearning (possibly even in a&nbsp;<a href="/nsfw">NSFW</a> manner, depending on the context). May also represent adoration or feeling touched&nbsp;by a loving gesture.

Huawei&#39;s design for this emoji includes a pair of&nbsp;<a href="/folded-hands">🙏 Folded Hands</a>.

At its peak the Pleading Face was&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/a-new-king-pleading-face/">the&nbsp;third most popular emoji used on Twitter</a>, and was the most commonly found emoji <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/what-every-heart-emoji-really-means/">in tweets that include hearts</a>. Used in sequence with pointing hands to indicate a bashful or shy pose (🥺👉👈)&nbsp;<a href="/tiktok/">particularly on TikTok</a>.

A face with open eyes and a small, open frown. Its eyebrows are furrowed, with a single bead of cold sweat dripping down, and its forehead is pale blue, as if experiencing a <a href="/cold-face/">cold</a> flash. Samsung&#39;s design shows upper teeth and tongue.

Meaning widely varies, but commonly conveys such feelings as sadness, disappointment, fear, and anxiety. Similar to <a href="/sad-but-relieved-face/">😥&nbsp;Sad but Relieved Face</a>, but with a blue head and larger frown.

Not to be confused with <a href="/crying-face/">😢&nbsp;Crying Face</a>, <a href="/sleepy-face/">😪&nbsp;Sleepy Face</a>, or other emojis with tear or sweat droplets. <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/anxious-face-with-sweat/">Microsoft</a> and <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/anxious-face-with-sweat/">Samsung</a> previously featured smileys that appeared more excited in expression.

Face with Open Mouth and Cold Sweat

A yellow face with raised eyebrows and a slight frown, shedding a single, blue tear from one eye down its cheek. May convey a moderate degree of sadness or pain, usually less intensely than <a href="/loudly-crying-face/">😭&nbsp;Loudly Crying Face</a>.

Not to be confused with <a href="/sad-but-relieved-face/">😥&nbsp;Sad but Relieved Face</a>, <a href="/sleepy-face/">😪&nbsp;Sleepy Face</a>, or other emojis with tear or sweat droplets. Crying Face

A yellow face with scrunched, X-shaped eyes and a crumpled mouth, as if quivering in frustration or holding back tears. May be used to represent being overcome with various emotions, including irritation, frustration, disgust, and sadness,&nbsp;as if to the point of defeat.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Microsoft and Twitter&rsquo;s designs feature&nbsp;eyebrows, Facebook&rsquo;s a purple forehead.

Vendor designs have noticeably evolved over time. <a href="/apple/ios-6.0/confounded-face/">Apple</a> and <a href="/google/android-8.0/confounded-face/">Google&rsquo;s</a> designs previously included eyebrows. Earlier versions <a href="/google/android-7.0/confounded-face/">from Google</a> also displayed a more miserable expression, and <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/confounded-face/">Microsoft</a> a more confused one.

A yellow face with a frown and closed, downcast eyes, as if aching with sorrow or pain. May convey a variety of unhappy emotions, including disappointment, grief, stress, regret, and remorse.

These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Samsung Emoji List — Emojis for Samsung Galaxy, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Z Fold [Updated 2024]

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 28 March 2024, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.1&nbsp;revised a considerable number of previously available emoji designs.

Many emojis had subtle modifications made to their outline, contrast, and shading, including the majority of&nbsp;<a href="/people">🧑 People</a> emojis. Meanwhile, many emojis within&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href="/travel-places">🚀 Travel &amp; Places</a> and&nbsp;<a href="/objects">💡 Objects</a> categories were given more extensive redesigns.&nbsp;

One UI 6.1

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices on 30&nbsp;October 2023, Samsung&#39;s One UI 6.0&nbsp;featured a completely new design style for the majority of the vendor&#39;s emojis.

All smiley, food, and animal emoji designs have been revised in this update, as have the majority of the people emojis.

This is the most significant revision of the vendor&#39;s emoji set since&nbsp;February 2018&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="https://emojipedia.org/samsung/experience-9.0">Experience 9.0</a> update, which introduced a significant number of design revisions that were consistent with those used on other platforms.

This update also introduced support for the 2023 <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.1">Emoji 15.1</a> recommendation list.

One UI 6.0

Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from October 2022, Samsung&#39;s One UI 5.0 provided support for both&nbsp;2021&#39;s <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a> and 2022&#39;s <a href="https://emojipedia.org/emoji-15.0/">Emoji 15.0</a>&nbsp;recommendations.

Prior to the release of One UI 5.0, many Samsung users may have seen support for <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;emojis provided via <a href="/google/">Google&#39;s emoji design set</a>. This was due to Google&#39;s expansion of&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>&nbsp;in 2021.

A select number of users also reported seeing <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>&nbsp;designs in Samsung&#39;s emoji font when updating to One UI 4.1.1 in September 2022.
