Generally depicted as a grayish-white poodle in full profile on all fours facing left, with a shaved torso, legs, and face with fuller, pom-pom-like hair on its head, ears, chest, feet, and tip of tail (as the <a href="https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/poodle-standard/">Continental Clip</a>).

Like <a href="/dog/">🐕 Dog</a>, may be used to represent a variety of dog breeds (often fluffy or long-haired). See also <a href="/dog-face/">🐶 Dog Face</a>.

<a href="/google/android-7.0/poodle/">Google</a>, <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/poodle/">Samsung</a>, and <a href="/facebook/2.0/poodle/">Facebook&rsquo;s</a> designs previously featured pink poodles.

Poodle

A swirl of brown poop,&nbsp;shaped like&nbsp;<a href="/soft-ice-cream/">soft-serve ice cream</a> with large, excited eyes and frequently a big, friendly <a href="/grinning-face-with-big-eyes/">smile</a>.

Widely agreed to have been inspired by the various poop-shaped characters within the Dr. Slump manga series by Akira Toriyama.

May be used to represent feces and other bathroom topics as well as stand in for their many&nbsp;related slang terms. It also enjoys a wide range of idiosyncratic applications, such as conveying a sense of whimsy or silliness, given its fun, happy expression.

<a href="/microsoft/windows-10/pile-of-poo/">Microsoft</a> and Google previously depicted a literal pile of feces, <a href="/google/android-5.0/pile-of-poo/">Google&rsquo;s design</a> featuring stink lines and flies hovering above it.

This emoji predates the inclusion of emojis within <a href="/the-unicode-consortium">Unicode</a>. It was first added to early Japanese emoji keyboards by <a href="/softbank">Softbank</a>&nbsp;in <a href="/softbank/1997/pile-of-poo">1997</a>.

Pile of Poo

A plain pink heart, expected to be&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/what-every-heart-emoji-really-means/">frequently used alongside other hearts</a>. Used to represent love, friendship, and feelings of warmth, and the color pink.

For many years before its introduction in <a href="/emoji-15.0">2022</a>, the plain pink heart was one of the world&#39;s <a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/top-emoji-requests-2016/">most frequently requested</a> emojis.

As with the other color-based hearts, this emoji is often also used to express an affinity with or appreciation for various people, places, groups, objects, or ideas associated with the same color.

Shown as&nbsp;red, pink or purple nail polish on most platforms, the color rarely changes the meaning of this emoji. Previously displayed as <a href="/google/android-5.0/nail-polish/">a single bottle of nail polish on Android</a> and <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/nail-polish/">on Windows</a>.

Nail Polish

A person tipping their hand by their shoulder as if they&rsquo;re carrying a tray of drinks or flipping their hair. Originally called Information Desk Person.

This emoji is commonly used to express sassiness or sarcasm.

While no gender is specified, <a href="/apple/ios-4.0/person-tipping-hand/">many</a> <a href="/twitter/twemoji-1.0/person-tipping-hand/">early</a> <a href="/google/android-4.4/person-tipping-hand/">designs</a>&nbsp;displayed this emoji as a woman. Google&rsquo;s 2014 design shows <a href="/google/android-5.0/person-tipping-hand/">a blob wearing white gloves and a pillbox hat</a>. Microsoft&rsquo;s 2015 design shows <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/person-tipping-hand/">a woman doing this gesture while winking</a>, a facial expression that further reinforces the sassy and sarcastic uses of this emoji.

Information Desk Person

A person in the process of getting their hair cut, with scissors shown open next to the hair on their head.

While no gender is specified, many early designs displayed this emoji as a woman.

Windows previously displayed this emoji as a <a href="/microsoft/windows-8.1/person-getting-haircut/" title="💇 Haircut on Microsoft Windows 8.1">comb and scissors</a>, instead of a person having&nbsp;their hair cut.

Haircut

A person going for a walk. Taking a slow-medium pace, this person would be a <a href="/person-running/" title="🏃 Runner">runner</a> if they picked up their <a href="/dashing-away/" title="💨 Dash Symbol">speed</a>.

This emoji does not specify a gender, but was previously shown as a man on most major platforms.

A friendly, cartoon-styled face of a dog, looking straight ahead. Depicted as the face of a dog of various breeds, generally light-brown and white, with pointed or floppy ears and its tongue hanging out.

Many vendors implement the same or similar dog as their full-bodied <a href="/dog/">🐕 Dog</a>, such as Google and Facebook. Apple&nbsp;and WhatsApp&rsquo;s dogs have a white face with brown, floppy ears and a brown patch over one eye.

Included in the earliest Japanese emoji sets from <a href="/softbank/1997/dog-face/">Softbank</a>, <a href="/docomo/1999/dog-face/">Docomo</a>, and <a href="/au-kddi/type-a-2/dog-face/">au by KDDI</a>.

Dog Face

Apple and Facebook&rsquo;s dogs resemble a reddish-brown <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiba_Inu">Shiba Inu</a>, a popular Japanese breed featured in the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doge_(meme)">Doge meme</a>. Google shows what appears to be a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beagle">Beagle</a>.

Guide Dog

A service animal displayed with a safety vest and lead. Differs from the guide dog as this animal is intended&nbsp;for detection of seizures or other &ldquo;hidden disabilities&rdquo;, according to the <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/apple-proposes-new-accessibility-emojis/">proposal from Apple</a>.

Service Dog

The face of a wolf, a howling canine that hunts in packs. Generally depicted as a cartoon-styled face of a gray wolf with pointed ears,&nbsp;white cheeks and&nbsp;muzzle, and black nose.

Its expression is variously neutral, friendly, or slightly menacing, as in Google and Samsung&rsquo;s designs. Apple and Huawei&#39;s designs features the head of gray wolf, facing left.

Occasionally used to represent metaphorical senses of wolf, e.g., lone wolf, wolf pack.

These&nbsp;glossy emojis&nbsp;appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz)&nbsp;which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their <a href="/google/">Google</a>&nbsp;set design. This is due to <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/faster-emoji-updates-on-the-way-for-android-apps/">Android AppCompat</a>, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform&nbsp;when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Since the introduction of Samsung&#39;s emoji set in <a href="/samsung/touchwiz-2.0">2014</a>, various Unicode characters that have not been recommended to have emoji presentation have nevertheless been given a colorful emoji design on Samsung platforms.
