Emoji 16.0 is the set of emojis recommended for release on September 10 2024, alongside <a href="/zh/unicode-16.0">Unicode 16.0</a>.

Emoji 16.0 contained 8 new emojis, listed below. This update brought the total number of emojis recommended for general interchange (RGI) by Unicode to&nbsp;3,790 when all skin tone and gender variations are included.

Emoji 15.1 is the latest set of emojis recommended for release, approved September 12, 2023&nbsp;alongside Unicode 15.1.

Additions&nbsp;included mixed skin tone support for&nbsp;<a href="/zh/%E6%8F%A1%E6%89%8B">🤝 Handshake</a>, which previously had been only default yellow on most major platforms.
