Roblox

Online game platform Roblox includes emoji support within its in-game chat and friend list messaging features.

Since emojis were introduced to the platform in 2017, Roblox has used Twitter’s open source Twemoji designs to display emojis. This means that emojis in Roblox appear the same as they do on the Twitter.com website and on Twitter for Android.

While Roblox supports emojis from up to 2019’s Emoji 12.1, certain emojis are censored by Roblox chat and are instead displayed as one or more hashtag “#” symbols.

This censorship impacts many emojis with well-documented NSFW connotations, as well as objects that are legally unavailable to minors in most countries (such as ЁЯН║ Beer Mug and ЁЯЪм Cigarette). It also appears to be sensitive towards emojis that could be used flirtatiously or as a means of communicating sexual identity, such as the various heart emojis.

Roblox does not include its own emoji keyboard, meaning users must either use their mobile device’s native emoji keyboards or copy and paste emojis from the web.
